Matilde Pratesi: Publication News!

  Publication News!

We're so delighted to hear that Corsair has signed Matilde Pratesi's Pig, which will be published in May 2025. Her debut literary novel was shortlisted for the Caledonia Novel Award 2023, and introduces queer, neurodivergent protagonist Vale, who has a love of pigs and is manipulated and controlled by her narcissistic best friend.

Editorial director Olivia Hutchings, who acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Thérèse Coen at Susanna Lea Associates, commented: "From the very first page, Pig creates an incredibly unsettling feeling in the reader and when the terrifying truth is revealed, the tension becomes unbearable as you fear for Vale's safety. But this is ultimately a story of hope - and one that will make you realise the vital importance of having the space to be yourself. Matilde Pratesi has created an extraordinary character in Vale and I cannot wait for readers to meet her and her beloved pigs."

Matilde added: "Getting shortlisted for the Caledonia Novel Award gave me and my novel a great boost in visibility. Querying agents and publishers once I had that badge of honour became much easier, as if I had behind me a jury of industry professionals recommending my work. To anyone who is unsure whether to enter I say: do it, it’s absolutely worth it."

Many congratulations to Matilde!
